ROAD CONDITIONS
Sealed road to Thomson Dam turn-off. Unsealed from here to
Mt St. Gwinear carpark (11 km). Mt St Gwinear is 26 kilometres north of Erica and Rawson

WHEEL CHAINS MUST BE CARRIED AT ALL TIMES

V/Line offers frequent and convenient rail services to Moe and Traralgon from Melbourne. 
Mountain–Top Experience provides transfers from the Latrobe Valley (Moe/Morwell/Traralgon) to Mt St. Gwinear at very reasonable rates. Bookings are required.

If you have a vehicle with low-profile tyres or a large 4WD please make contact with the chain rental locations to ensure they have chains that will suit your car...sometimes it ain't easy to get chains to suit!

Rawson, Moe, Tyers or Traralgon...there is no fuel available at Mt St Gwinear or in Erica or Walhalla. The Rawson Mini Mart provides fuel 7 days a week. No auto LPG is available.

Mobile PHONE
Telstra Network mobiles work as far as Erica/Rawson, Optus is very patchy...beyond that forget it...although up on the plateau beyond the Mt St Gwinear summit you can get a signal!  DON'T rely on your mobile...be prepared!

Tons...Walhalla Historic Township is highly recommended and a great place to visit...ride the Walhalla Goldfields Railway, take a tour of the Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine, visit the famous hillside cemetery or just meander down the picturespue main street past historic buildings and pretty cottage gardens.
